Children See

I happened upon this video. I HIGHLY recommend it for any parent to see that are raising young ones. It's only a min and a half, but it's powerful.

Another First

Andrew fed himself today for the very first time. He went to the kitchen, got a bowl, got the milk and poured it into the bowl and then poured cereal into it. All by him self... Sniff.

Pizza, Parks and Friends

We didn't do a whole lot this weekend. Mainly stayed indoors and helped daddy clean the office up so that we can get the AC fixed.
Saturday we went to the park with Sue and Ethan for a bit and played. Later on Daddy and Andrew went to the store and bought ingredients to make a homemade pizza, to which happened to be Andrews idea and the 1st one he's ever made.
Sunday we babysat Anika. They went to the park. Daddy played a bit of tennis. Andrew and Anika get along with each other remarkably well.

Proof that he gets down and plays really hard :P

Major Growth Spurt

As of now Andrew weighs 35 Ibs and is 39 inches in height... Way to go Andrew. Considering he lost 2 Ibs from when he got really sick in May that makes a total of 5 Ibs in just 2 mths! Wow... That explains why he was eating sooo much 2 weeks ago!

BBQ's and Friends and a Birthday

First we want to say Happy Birthday to Nanna G, we really miss you. You would have only been 62 yrs old today. In honor of the day you were born we are burning a candle for you to remember! We love you sooo much.

Yesterday Andrew, Ethan, Sue and I went to Highpark and had a picnic and the boys splashed in the wading pool all day and played on the play area for a while as well. It was a good day but i didn't get much pictures.

Today our building had their annual summer BBQ. Andrew saw a magic show and even volunteered himself to be a helper in the show at one point.

Life's a Beach

Today Andrew and i went to Ashbridge Beach together, just the two of us. We had such a beautiful day. He really is such a well behaved child, i don't know what i did to deserve such an awesome soul in my life, but i am happy! We waded in the water off and on the whole time we were there, we dug a big hole to which Andrew really wanted to do, we started to build a sand castle but i think we'll wait for daddy to help the next time we go. We ate cheesies together on the blanket, and talked about the boats and sand and rocks and things. After that we headed out to the park, but got snapped by an icecream truck that called to him and every child there, young and old. Then off to the playground. There he played at the splash pad for a while and then played on the equipment. After we decided to take a street car home, Andrew's been wanting to go on forever now. The temp was hot all day so the water was very refreshing. It was high 30c and even higher with the humid X... I did not want the day to end. What a beautiful memory. Thank you Andrew. I love you.. Lots of pics coming up!

This is when we first got there, whenever we first arrive anywhere and it's somewhere new he always bites his nails, sort of a nervous habit he's gotten himself into.

In the water with the boat. This boat i must say has been the best one dollar ever spent, he dragged it along with him where ever we went, in water, sand, grass and pavement. He had a blast!

A cheesy moment...

In thought

Aren't these the most adorable feet ever?

The ice cream that created MANY giggles

More water fun

The view from the playground. (note, this is not the same water we swam in)

I love the way the sun is hitting his face in these two

The sun is going down, time for one last swing and then on the the street car! What a fantastically fun awesome day!

THE END.

Canada Day

Andrew, daddy, mommy, Sue, Gerry and Ethan went out for the celebrations. First we went to Downview Park, everything was free there, rides, food and entertainment. Andrew got to touch a real snake, he was in heaven, i have a feeling he's going to be right into them when he's older. They also had a tarantula but he didn't want to hold that, but Ethan did.
We decided to leave soon after we got there, it was way too busy, and there is NO way the boys would have been able to get on any of the rides without having to wait 2 hrs for each one.
So we hopped on the transit and headed to the Beaches.
When we arrived there, there was a big concert thing set up, mind you it was nothing but country music (not a fan of that). This is the first yr they ever put anything like that up. We all head to the beach, Andrew and Ethan went down to the water to throw rocks in. Of course Andrew decided to go in, shoes and all. To which i didn't mind much because we brought extra clothes for him, so what the heck, built up his data base.
After we got him all dried up and warm we sat on and watched the fireworks. It was Ethan's first time seeing them close up and the first time he was at the beach since he was a baby, he thought it was one big sandbox :)

From Melissa

This was written by my 11 yr old niece Melissa.. I am so proud of you Melissa, i hope that one day your dream comes true in your life time...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I could make a wish, I would wish cancer away!

Hi my name is Melissa and I lost my grandma to cancer last May 2007.

She would always say I hear the word, I know the word; I just can't say the word.

Cancer

I lost my grandma a year ago to cancer,
You never think it could happen to someone you love,
I cried for her more than anyone I have before,
She was so weak, fragile, and young,
But cancer doesn't care who its victim is,
Live each day like it is your last,
That's what my Nana would say,
All we have left is her past,
Now she is gone,
She'll be remembered forever,

So I thought I had to do something, with this in mind I started growing my hair and now today 2008 I have long hair, so I can do something for someone with cancer. I will be donating my hair to Locks for love .With the help of my community Driftwood Park I took donations on behalf of my quest. I will be donating $200.00 to cancer in hope to make this terrible word go away forever.
Thank you to all at Driftwood Public School

Happy Birthday Tara

I hope it you have a fantastically wonderful awesome beautiful day today, just like you are... We love you sweet cheeks.

It's Official

Holy cheese batman, read all about it...
Andrew ate cheese today for the very first time in four years... And given the calculations, that would make it the first time in his whole life... I'm soo proud of you Andrew... Oh the life of cheese, you have opened many doors today paving your way to many more and more yummier things :) Way to go!

Other firsts that you've tried this week are: hotdogs (now if i could only get you to stop wanting them ;) )... Cheese and crackers. And (drum roll please) cereal WITH milk in it....

Guess you are getting tired of eating the same ole stuff EVERY single day!

Also, he is eating almost constantly, maybe he's going through another growth spurt...

(oh and you learned to write the letter N today as well)

And a little video clip of Andrew singing a song that he sings about 10 times a day. The video is kind of dark because there wasn't a whole lot of light. :P

Cancer Relay

It was really sad. I cried lots, but it was nice being there at the same time. At one point they played a song that my parents played for their wedding dance song, it was like my mom was there and she wanted me to know it, was she speaking to me?. Please listen to this while looking at the pictures :)

Getting ready to go.

Andrew walking the relay..

These are white bags with candles burning inside them, each bag cost $5 to go to-wards cancer research, everyone of them had a name of a loved one that passed or is a survivor, sadly there were more with one that passed on. They had thousands of them lit every where in a circle and on each side of the path that the walkers and runners were relaying. They burned all night long, it was quite the site.

This was the lighting ceremonies, and 5 min silence in memory.

There was entertainment all night long.. This little girl was only 8yrs old and had an amazing voice. I couldn't get a good pic of her because it was way too loud and i didn't want to break Andrews eardrums.

Lots of campers, i think they were for the kids if they got too tired.

This was on someones tent.
