Empathy

I have a problem with empathy, there i said it. I have tons of it for animals but for the human sector and especially the ones that are closest to me i fall short. I'm sorry. I am learning how to be more understanding and in tuned to/with how how others feel. It's going to be a hard road but one that i want to do for Andrew's sake, and Christina's as well as Don's. Why am i sharing this here? Because i want Andrew to know that no one is perfect and we all have personal things that we have to work on to make us better people, within and throughout. I am learning compassion, understanding and patience. It's not going to come overnight, in fact in might take some time, but i will become a better person. To Don and Christina i just want to say that i'm sorry that i didn't do this a long time ago. BUT, i'm also grateful for realizing that i do have a problem, that's the first step along my journey to enlightenment.

Not So Happy Birthday for me :(

Well here we are, today is my birthday and Andrew's still getting sick. Not all of the time, just in the evenings. Every.single.evening since Tuesday. Too make matters worse I am still feeling VERY weak still. Tonight I was able to eat a roll for the first time since Thursday night. I called telehealth (reg nurses) about Andrew, i didn't know if i should take him to Emergency or not, and they said as long as he's not showing any signs of dehydration not to even bother. I just wish i could take all this sickness away. Don seems to be getting better a lot faster then all of us. Lucky him. Sooo, if Andrew vomits again tonight i will be taking him to see a Dr tomorrow for sure. My poor baby, i feel so helpless.

Virus's

I HATE THEM... Poor Andrew is sick with yet another damn virus. We're guessing he must have caught it from the Science Center. He started vomiting Wed morning at 6am, about every 20 mins until about 11am. He woke up at 2pm, drank some water, played with his toys for a bit, watched Scooby, ate a bit of chicken noodle soup. All seemed to be ok. He fell asleep in my arms in the livingroom at about 10pm. Don lied him on the couch so that i could get up and do things. We were talking and Andrew woke up vomiting again. I cleaned him up, we went to bed, he had a low grade fever. He drank some water and vomited again. I gave him some liquid gravel and he slept until about 5am, woke up and wanted to nurse, after that i gave him some more gravel and he slept till 11am. Today there has been no vomiting thus far. He had some telly toast (peanut butter) when he woke up, wanted to eat later in the day, Don made him some chicken strips (andrew's request)but only had 2 bites. He didn't look so good at about 7pm, another low grade fever (see the pattern?), i gave him some gravel again, he fell asleep on my lap on the couch at 8pm. I really hope he doesn't get sick again tonight. If so i will take him to the ER, i hope it's not like the last time. Poor baby.... I hate this.

Family Day at the Science Center

Today in Canada is family day so we decided to take Andrew to the science center for a few hours. It was PACKED, it seems that everyone else thought it would be a great way to spend the day with their families as well.... They had an extra exhibit for the day run by K-Nex, the boys had a great time building things. Well, i should say especially Don. It was good that he finally got out of the house and outdoors, that hasn't been happening too often lately, but brrrrr was it ever cold out on the way home.

Here's their creation that they built together, Don called it "The Virus"...

He had a blast with this spiral lights that were being projected from the ceiling, whenever you stamp on them the spirals move. Not a very clear image because i couldn't use the flash.

And a few others that caught my eye!

Ok, Don really loved this one, it is really bizarre how he died tho, what it his fate? It's about a Muslim named Al-Jahiz, he lived from 776-868

Just outside of the building. (yes we did out his coat on right after these shots)

I like these pictures

Andrew is really into building things. He REALLY wants to make a robot. Everyday he wants to invent something. It won't be too supricing if he gets into the robitics field when he's older... Oh and he LOVES Teddy Bears, his fav one he names Lovey, he's takes him everywhere with him, it's aoooo cute.

One Week

It's been a week now and Andrew still hasn't stuttered... Yayyy.

Sadly we did do not do anything this week, i was sick with a nasty flu. If it's not Andrew it's Don, if not him it's me. Thank goodness they didn't catch it (thus far)... So because of me being ill there isn't really much to report.

This weekend i am planning to take him to the Science Center...

That's about it for now :)

Soooo

Nothing really much to report. I just feel like i have to write something. Andrew's been stuttering for quite some time now. It has been getting worse this past month so i have been calling different speech therapy clinics throughout Toronto, one said that he's too old now. The other one at the hospital said that the waiting list is up to a year, i called another one and they said the waiting list would be up to 4 months, AND it would cost 5 to 6 hundred dollars :O .... I was starting to get really discouraged and then all of a sudden, yesterday he stopped stuttering, almost completely. Like magic!

As for me, well i am happy to say that i will be going out for a whole night without the boys for the first time since i've had Andrew. I will be staying at the Sutton Hotel in Toronto for one night with my sisters Tammy, Judy, cousins Monica and Debbie and my good friend Sue. It's a girls night out,,, Thanks Monica for setting this up. I will report back after wards how it all went and how and if the boys survived without me :)

To be continued......
