Sister and Doctor

Lisa came to visit us on Sunday for a couple of hours with her friend Gary. Lisa bought the cutest little short outfit with a matching hat for Andrew. It's so adorable. I love it when Lisa buys him clothes, she has the same taste as i do when it come to clothing him... (anytime time Lisa *wink wink*).... Andrew drew a picture of a robot and then wanted Lisa to make a real one from his blueprint. I guess it's time for me to teach him how to draw in 3D because that's what he got when we tried to make it. But he was happy with the outcome so that's all that really matters..... Hopefully now that Lisa is living closer to us she will be able to see us more frequently now.

Yesterday I took Andrew to the Doctors for his 5 yr checkup. She checked him over and asked him some questions. Physically she said that he really healthy. He weighs 38 lbs and is 41 inches tall. He's on the small side but according to his growth chart his growth trend is the same. She said that he appears to be very smart and articulate, i asked her how she was able to know this and she said by the questions she asked him. I questioned her about the stuttering and she said that he will likely grow out of it. I told her that i made an appointment with a speech therapist and she said that's a good idea but really doesn't think he's going to have a long term problem with it. So needless to say i was happy to hear that!

Talking of which, i received a call from the hospital (speech lab) last week and finally got an appointment for him to see someone, i have been waiting 6 mths for this appointment, i thought they had forgotten about us.... Good ole Canada for you. So his appointment is on June 5th.

Pic of him and Lisa

His 2D robot - lol

One showing the whole outfit.

These next pictures were taken after the Doctors appointment on our way home!

I like this photo. He seems so big and independent walking down the sidewalk with his backpack on.

My little pirate... He was quite upset when everyone thought he was cute and smiled at him, he expected them to be scared... Poor little guy...

And another one before we left for the Doctors, just because i like it :)

After the Doctors we went here!

Toronto EMS Ambulance Tour at the Science Center

hToday we went to the Science Center to learn about the Toronto EMS Ambulance services and what they do. First we took a tour inside a real ambulance bus, it's a bus that's been converted into an ambulance for large scale assessments and care, like when there is multiple people needing care from vehicle accidence, building fires, etc. Then he learned how Toronto EMS Paramedics and Dispatchers handle emergencies and try out equipment they use every day. He learned how dispatchers speak in over 90 languages and how Safe City Mikey defibrillators save lives! After that he went to story time and then played some. Then we went to the park and met Ethan and Sue and played there for a while.

They put a thing on Andrew's thumb to measure his oxygen level and heart rate.

The Fire Station

Andrew and I went on a field trip to a fire station with a bunch of other kids his age today. He had a BLAST. He really liked the water hose that they let the kids use (but of course). And when he didn't have the hose he decided that it would be fun to be at the other end of it, well, after that ALL of the kids decided it would be fun as well. Silly guy! The firemen had to leave in the middle of the class though because they actually had an emergency to attend to. After that we went to St Lawrence Market and then we walk all the way to Dundas Square (very.long.walk). We had a blast. By the time we made it home it was 9pm.

So Tell Me?

How do moms who have multiple kids manage to have a spotless house? And cook healthy meals 3 times a day? How do they do that? Do they have a magic wand and poof all gets done for them? Do they spend time with their kids? I just don't get it. I really really don't get it. I have dust bunnies growing, toys everywhere, clothes piling up, sticky finger prints, shredded paper that just been recently cut, dishes needing to be done, an insane fridge, let along my oven that is "still" waiting to get cleaned. I'm not complaining really, i like my life, the clutter doesn't really bother me too much. The time i get to spend with Andrew is much more important to me. But i do wonder, how do they do it?

Flower Power

hAndrew planted flowers today. Not too sure what will become of it but he had a great time doing it and making a huge mess in the process.

The Energiser Bunny

Lives is my house, disguised as a human boy, I swear this kid NEVER stops. Where does it come from? When did i loose it? Why can't i have some of it?
Right now he's rolled up in a ball on the printer table where we have 3 printers set up, there is a gap between two of them, guess what he is? A printer! (don't ask).. I would take a picture of him for you but he decided NOT to like wearing clothes today, yes i dressed him, and i dressed him again, and yet again. I give up. Earlier today he was a T.V set, he told us the news, played an episode of Scooby and then JUMPED out and did a live rock concert complete with loud (err super loud) singing or undecipherable ramblings in his own tune whilst playing an imaginary guitar. He is CONSTANTLY in motion. He's crazy i tell you. But man is he ever a joy.

My Little Goof Ball

Andrew is such a little clown lately. He's ALWAYS giggling. He believes everything. Reality seems so much different to a 5 yr old. For instance he likes to pretend he's a monster or zombie and we'll act like were really scared and all, he'll stop and come to us and tell us it's only pretend, it's sooo cute.

Here he is playing hide in seek and he REALLY thinks know one would be able to see him there.

Here we asked if we could a good picture of him with the tulips.

Oh well, at least the flowers listened!

Happy Mother Day

This was not written by me but it sure does fit with how i feel. Thank you Christina and Andrew for making me a proud mom. I love you both so much.

Happy Mothers day to all you wonderful moms out there.

Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin...
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt..
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom..

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

Happy Birthday My Love

Five, five, 5, one after 4, one before 6, 60 months, 1825 days, know matter how i write it, how often i say it, i still cannot believe it. Didn't you just have your 4th birthday? Where did the year go? Years go? This is happening way too quickly. My head is spinning, slow down time. OMG, he's FIVE now! It just doesn't seem fair that childhood goes sooo quickly. I don't want you to grow so fast, yes i do want to see what you become in adulthood but i want you to be my little one for just a while longer. I love you Andrew and Happy Birthday little man.

(I plan on posting pics of his birthday once i go through them, so please stay tuned)

Holay Crap

Sir Andrew fell asleep tonight at 10 pm. What shall i do? What shall i do? Will he wake up in the middle of the night thinking it's time to get up? Second wind? Yikes this kid NEVER goes to bed this early... I'm lost... Should i wake him up??? Just kidding.

CRAP

I guess with spring comes allergies, yuck. Andrew looks like he has a shiner from rubbing at his eye so much and i feel like i have a cold but i know it's not, as soon as i took allergy pills it went away. This sucks. On a good note, Don seems to be escaping it this year!

Food Drive

I forgot to post this last week. Andrew did his first volunteer work. It was for a food bank here in Toronto. Him, and another woman from our building and i went to 6 floors in our building. There are 44 floors times 2 buildings. His job was to knock on the doors, mine was to take the bags of food and put them into the cart and Stacey's was to push the cart. This will be the first of many volunteer work that he will be doing throughout his childhood. Many people talk about doing good in the world, i want to teach him to DO good.

This is the way Andrew likes to pose in front of the camera lately.

Edwards Gardens

Sooo, Tiffany did not show up, she went to a birthday party instead. I guess i have been demoted (she's 16yrs old). Oh well, i guess i'll catch up with her again in say, hmmmm, 10 yrs?

But Melissa and my brother inlaw Manny did visit us and we went out to the gardens (since it was soooo nice out and all). Oh i almost forgot about Shylee, she's their family dog. She came with us too! It was so warm out, we need not where a jacket, and yes, just short sleeves and shorts type of weather (that of course is if you feel comfortable enough to where such garment, to which i don't yet) ok, i digress. Where was i? oh ya, in the beautiful garden. Well it wasn't the most gorgeous because the flowers haven't bloomed yet and not much green either, but that all depends on what you think is beauty, i LOVE LOVE anything in nature in all its dimensions. That is another reason i love living in this part of the world, for people who have A.D.D all the four seasons are refreshing changes, i can't get bored, but i have also noticed as i age that for some reason i think it makes life go faster. Who knows, i might be on to something here! But there i go again, digressing. Andrew and Melissa loved going down to the many small creeks and throwing rock in the water. Melissa found a ball in one of them. We did get to see some flowers in bloom but not many. There were TONS of people also out and enjoying the nice weather. One thing i love about going out at this time of year is that there are very few bugs bugging me. We decided to park at Edwards Gardens and walk to and back to the stables where there are horses (approx 3 km each way). But a little more then half way there the thunder clouds rolled in really quickly. Don wanted to keep going but we didn't think it would be a good idea and told him we would get the car and pick him up at the stables. He wanted to keep Andrew with him so Manny, Melissa and I went to get the car. On our way there all of a sudden you could hear the wind rolling in behind us, I wish i would have taped it, it looked like something out of a movie, i almost felt like we could be in the land of Oz. The dry leaves were blowing in every direction and then collecting all together and floating up into the sky, and then separating again and looking as if they were doing a dance up there, It looked and sounded spectacular. And then minutes later came the rain, pouring. Wet. Cold. I looked at Melissa (Manny ran to get the car) and told her that Andrew's probably scared and is calling for me. So by the time we got to the car we were soaked and VERY cold, thank gawd i brought a jacket and sweat pants for Andrew (just in case), and thank gawd i gave them to him to hold on to. We drove to the stables to get them, they were soaked but ok. Getting out of the park was a different story tho, there was only one way out and it seemed like the whole city of Toronto came there, the line up was LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

So we went home, put dry clothes on, Melissa and Manny went downstairs for a swim. Then they had to leave to get Jessica and Judy from the airport. After they left i went through the pictures, earlier i gave the camera to Melissa (11yrs old) and told her she was in charge of the picture taking. She seemed to like that. And boy was i every surprised to see the pictures she took, it looks like we may have another nature photographer in the family. She's great!

Here are some for proof.

My lovely niece Melissa

Manny and Melissa, Manny was lucky to be able to take off his wet shirt, the bum.

Melissa and Shylee, even she got soaked.

There are some more photo that she took but of course i could not post them all.

Later on in the evening Don told me that Andrew was wanting me when the rain started, I know my boy!

I'm Soooooooo Excited

Ya, it doesn't seem to take a whole lot for me to get this way these days.
Today Don, Andrew and i will be spending the say outdoors :) ... Uncle Manny, Tiffany and Melissa will come out with us and play for a while. Then they will be picking Judy and Jessica up at the airport (they went to Thunderbay for a wrestling tournament).. The rest of the week is going to be BUSY BUSY. Don is starting a new job on Monday. I plan to take Andrew out to the science center on Monday. Don's parents will be arriving here on Wednesday from Ottawa till Sunday or Monday. Saturday we're having a small gathering for Andrew's birthday, he's going to be 5, man that went fast.

Soooo, there we have it...

Have a fantastic day world.

Changes Being Made

I will be changing the look of Andrew's blog today, it might go through a lot of rebirths before i actually pick the one i like, or it could end up looking like the original if i don't like any of the new ones... Sooo, if you're looking at this and see changes you know why :)

Little Siddhartha

Andrew's brother took this picture of him on Easter weekend and called it "Little Siddhartha", i fell in love with it instantly. Thank you Alexander. You really have a nack in capturing the moment.
